Some say, “If you want to see what real life in Britain is all about, you have to go to the pub.” Indeed, pub-going is by far the most popular native pastime. With Western influences, nowadays pub-going also is becoming more and more popular among friends and colleagues in Taiwan. Please refer to the articles and discussion questions I prepared below.
Since 4/5 will be on a long weekend, my tiny, little hopes are – (1) it will be a lovely sunny day; (2) more YOYOs can join our discussion
Well, we have a dress-code for this meeting. Don't worry, it's so simple that everyne can do:
Dress code: Laziness (Eg. Lazy Geek Style / Lazy Cat Style/ Lazy Housewife Style)
Attitude: Bring your childlike heart!

Session 1: Pub / Night Club Culture
(You may pick any two questions to discuss)
1. What's your first impression on a night club? Do you think a night club is an immoral place? What're the social benefits of a night club?
2. Discuss the social and culture aspect of drinking:
(1) Chinese culture: Drinking with business partners or would-be friends is a way of solidifying the partnership. People think they would “lose face” for refusing to bottoms-up.
(2) Japanese culture: Office and job are men's lives. Going home is not a man's priority. Instead, a man usually ends up staying out until finishing the last round of drinking with his colleagues.
(3) Western culture: People like to go drinking at a bar and meet new friends there on weekends.
3. What's your way to expand your social network?
Session 2: Pub-Argument and Pub-Humor
Pub-argument
Pub-arguments are not like arguments in the real world; instead, it is an enjoyable game. Pub regulars will often start an argument about anything, just for the fun of it. Now use your creativity and imagination and start a pub-argument with your friends: Remember, “Fun and enjoyable”
(You may pick any two questions to discuss. Also, imagine you're chatting with your friends in a pub. Please play roles and divide your group into pro-team vs. con-team)
1. You see a girl dressed in a mini-skirt. So you guys start on an argument if a mini skirt is suitable for our society.
2. You hear your friend fart. So you guys start to argue if farting is polite or not.
3. Your parents is pushing you to get married soon. So you guys start to argue if marriage is necessary or not.
